Because you have selected Medicaid as your coverage type- you should simply be able to call your local pharmacy to make sure they are aware of your state’s Medicaid coverage and to determine the costs for your prescriptions. The cost for your medications should either be at a super low cost, or even $0 per prescription.

While coverage varies state by state, all states are currently provide coverage for outpatient prescription drugs.

There are many Parkinson’s foundations available that provide a variety of resources. Some of these include financial assistance for medical equipment and PD medications. Some foundations still have funding available, although those allotments may expire towards the end of each calendar year. Please check back frequently for funding and application status.

The Assistance Fund

The Assistance Fund (TAF) covers a variety of diagnoses, including Parkinson’s, by providing underinsured individuals with financial assistance to cover the costs of prescription medications. Eligibility is based on household size and income. As 1/17/23, the Assistance Fund is OPEN and accepting new patients for enrollment.

Healthwell Foundation

This foundation improves the care of underinsured people with chronic and life-altering diseases by helping with copays, premiums, deductibles, and travel costs. The Healthwell foundation provides assistance with the cost of prescription drugs used to treat Parkinson’s disease. Only Medicare patients are eligible to apply. As of 12/20/22, the foundation is closed to new patients for the year 2022, please check back for funding and apply/join the waitlist.

Melvin Weinstein Parkinson's Foundation (MWPF)

The Melvin Weinstein Parkinson’s Foundation is a non-profit organization that offers assistance for patients with Parkinson’s disease.  This foundation assists patients and their families by purchasing equipment and supplies necessary to maintain a safe environment for patients. If you are interested, please download and fill out the application below and mail back to the MWPF.

Patient Advocate Foundation Co-Pay Relief

This foundation helps people afford their copays in order to ensure they get the prescriptions, treatments, and care they need. This fund has been developed in response to patients who have contacted PAF for help with their medication expenses and could not find help. While this fund has been fully designed, they are not yet able to accept new applications as funding is still pending.

PAN Foundation

The PAN Foundation assists patients with costs of medications, co-pays, insurance premiums, and travel expenses. Based on eligibility and funding, patients may apply for assistance up to $3,300 per year. The PAN foundation covers a variety of FDA approved medications Parkinson’s disease. As of 12/20/2022- they are operating on a waitlist; however, funds are typically replenished and new patients are encouraged to apply at the beginning of the calendar year.

The Parkinson's Wellness Fund

The Parkinson’s Wellness Fund provides Parkinson’s patients access to services and support needed to live an improved quality of life. There are a variety of opportunities available through this program.   Being a part of the PWF is 100% free to patients and their families, and you will receive one-on-one attention and care.
